Media | Beta-Simplicity Sponsors Make It Real NUS Mountaineering club

15 July 2021 . Singapore

Beta-Simplicity announces the sponsorship of the 21st batch of Make It Real NUS Mountaineering (MIR) team. MIR is the longest running student mountaineering club in Singapore. Since its establishment in 2001, MIR members and its alumni have reached the summit of Mt Everest, Cho Oyu, Ama Dablam and participated in expeditions Ong Siew May and Ong Teng Cheong Peaks in Kazakhstan just to name a few.

To train the students for grueling expeditions to the Himalayan mountains, they have to go through rigorous physical and technical training while juggling their course work. Beyond the mountains, this club trains students to be resilient, disciplined and leadership. The success of this club in character building and nurturing future mountaineers can be seen from its alumni forming the Singapore Women Everest Team (SWET) which reached the summit of Everest in 2009 and others embarking on an entrepreneurship journey.

Beta-Simplicity understands the challenge of preparation and eventually scaling a mountain of that altitude. We encourage youths today to take on challenges today to be well rounded leaders of tomorrow. For the MIR team preparing to scale the mountain when the borders reopen, our non-slip eyewear will give them the concentration they need to go through the training and eventually follow them up the mountain.
